At 10am Sophia and I went to pick up the car that I reserved the day before. We paid and we're ready to leave when we walked to the garage and it was not the car that we got quoted for; in fact it was the type of car that we said no to the day before because of the size. After much back and forth with the person helping us they decided to refund a full day due to the inconvenience they caused and for giving us a car that barely fit us and all of our stuff!
Somehow we decided that the Swiss who doesn't drive nor knows how to give directions in english would be the co pilot... It took at least 20 mins to take M8, the street in front of our hostel! He started by giving commands such as "Cross the river" instead of "turn right and go on street over the river" so what ended up happening is that Sophia kept going straight on the street that went over the river!
Pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the scenery... It is absolutely B.E.A.UTIFUL!!!
So from Glasgow we took M8 out of the city and then followed A82 for the scenic route.
Our first stop was at a little cafe in the middle of nowhere where I got to see the hairy cows... So super exciting!
Then we approached the town Inveraray, one of the cities in our itinerary, but because I was busy taking a picture of the town I totally missed the castle that was to our right when we crossed the bridge. We decided to go around and find the castle but they had an entrance fee of £10 per person so because we didn't want to see it on the inside we decided to make a u turn and go back on the bridge! Haha
So we did and this was the view:
The castle was followed by a quick town tour
He has this idea that a holiday is not a holiday if he doesn't go swimming in the ocean! Haha so here he is having a swim in some disgusting water just to say that he swam during his holiday! Haha
Our last stop of the day before reaching our final destination was Arduaine garden but we never made it to the garden! We walked down, looked at the green grass with cows, turned around, and got back to the car.
At around 7 pm we finally arrived in Oban!!! Such a beautiful little town!!!
The hostel was centrally located and overlooked the water! We were so pleased with our little room! So much better than last night's hostel nightmare!
For dinner we treated ourselves to one of the best restaurants in town that is well known for their awesome seafood... EE USK (pronounces "iasg")
The food was delicious! I had the battered haddock with some white wine and it was just perfect! The restaurant is right at the waterfront so we were able to enjoy the beautiful sunset.
After dinner we walked around and went back to our hostel to get more layers since it was very chilly. The sunsetNview from the living room at the hostel was spectacular! This picture doesn't really show how pretty it was!
Sophia and Maria Posing with the sunset!
The stroll was amazing... It was a full moon so we could see it come out from behind the trees until it went out and reflected itself on the water... So beautiful!
At about midnight when the sun set and the moon was shining bright we decided to go to pub... Because in Scotland every other door leads to a pub... And listened to some live music and a very drunk guy singing!Day one of our road trip is done and it was amazing! The landscape on Scotland is completely breathtaking! Can't wait for tomorrow!!!
