Northern European Adventure: July 2015

Left Ireland and headed over to Norway!!!

After only an hour flight I was already in norways capital... Oslo!

From there I went to the train station and caught a 3pm train to Bergen!

The scenery from the train was probably one of the most beautiful I have ever seen! We went through lakes, waterfalls, and even snow! There are no words nor pictures that can really describe the beauty of the train ride!

At 10 pm I finally arrived in Bergen and it was still very bright! It did not look like 10 pm and it actually only got dark at around midnight!

The next morning I decided to wake up at 7am and go explore the city before all the tourists get in and it's not as enjoyable to walk around.

Of course I followed the Rick Steves self guide walk to get the best of the city!

At first I started to walk without really paying attention to the map and of course I ended up lost! Haha

The good thing is that I found some pretty awesome street art along the way!

Then I started the walk once I finally figured out where I was.

Under the cute houses there was a little alley full of shops, mostly souvenirs but a couple of them had some crazy furs!!! Like seals, bears, wolves, Buffaloes and some other crazy animals

The fish market! Probably the # 1 tourist trap in Bergen! Many years ago the fish market used t be where people actually bought fish but nowadays is just rows of fish at ads selling very expensive dishes that probably don't taste all that good

Today we decided to take a bus to Galway to get out of the city and experience a small Irish town.

We arrived around 9am so we decided to get some breakfast at an awesome little coffee shop across from the station... Jungle cafe.

We sat outside where they had couches and tables surrounded by pots of plants and herbs. At one time the cook came out and grabbed some mint to cook with.

Galway is about a 2 hr drive from Dublin and it's a super cozy city. After breakfast we started walking and went to the main square and by coincidence we happened to bump into the free walking tour so we decided to join it!

Apparently people love JFK so much here in Galway that they even did a mosaic of him inside the church!!!

Right now is salmon season so salmons are going through the Friars River that go along Galway and men love to fish and try to get a salmon. The thing is... Salmon don't eat here and they are going upstream so it is very very unlikely that one of the fishermen will ever catch a salmon in this water but they like the challenge and stand by the river day after day trying to get something (and apparently it is a huge deal if someone catches one)

This is a beautiful natural water pool.

The city itself is very charming although some of its charm disappears with all the shops and cafes on the streets.

I give Galway the price for most street performers:

Here is the Banjo player... Known as the richest street performer since he is there every single day playing his banjo and getting lots of euros!

All of these performers in 3 or 4 blocks... It was amazing but if you give to all of them you are broke by the end of the town.

The most amazing experience in Galway was to be able to see the symphony's concert by the museum. I think the symphony is going out on tour and they were just practicing and giving a free concert! Super cool!

After spending a couple of hours we got the bus back to Dublin and enjoyed our last night out together since tomorrow I'll head over Scandinavia and Lukas and Sophia go to Amsterdam!

First we went out for VIETNAMESE FOOD... What better way to end our trip than eating the same food as the country where I met them!!! (Of course a selfie after Sophia begged Lukas and I for it!)
